TERRELL, Texas — A house was deemed uninhabitable following a drug raid in Terrell where police say illegal narcotics were easily accessible to four juvenile children living in the home.
On Friday, April 21, 2017, at approximately 8:38 a.m., the Terrell Police Department SWAT and Narcotics Investigators executed a narcotics search warrant at 1105 Griffith Avenue, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.
Sansom says 23-year-old Jewel Diamond Mitchelltree was located on the west, outside portion of the property as SWAT officers entered the property. Mitchelltree was detained and later arrested on charges for possession of marijuana less than two ounces, possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 2 greater than or equal to four grams and less than 400 grams, and four counts of abandoning or endangering a child with criminal negligence.
Upon entry, SWAT officers also located 39-year-old Misti Marie Cunningham who was wanted on multiple warrants out of the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Terrell Police Department.
Two elderly individuals as well as four juvenile children were located.
“Investigators began searching the residence and located loose marijuana and baggies containing marijuana individually packaged for sale, all marijuana totaling 36 total grams, 6.6 grams of Cherry drop containing Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), baggies commonly used to package and distribute illegal narcotics, a marijuana grinder, and a digital scale containing marijuana residue,” stated Sansom.
“Investigators also located $960.00 in U.S. Currency on the person of Jewel Mitcheltree,” Sansom stated. “The money is believed to have been used in connection with and is proceeds of illegal narcotics transactions and was seized.”
Sansom says the illegal narcotics in the house were all easily accessible to the juvenile children. Narcotics Investigators will follow-up with Child Protective Services (CPS), he said.
The house was deemed uninhabitable and a “Dangerous Building” notification was placed on a front window.
Mitchelltree is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on bonds totaling $230,000.
