KAUFMAN, Texas — A Kaufman man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a 2015 aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of six.
Kaufman County 86th District Court Judge Casey Blair presided in the case, which concluded last week, against 31-year-old Shawn Russell Braden of Kaufman, Texas.
In March 2015, the Kaufman Police Department announced Braden’s arrest after a lengthy investigation which saw assistance from the United States Secret Service. Braden was later indicted in May 2015.
Kaufman Police Department Captain Ed Black said, at the time of the original arrest, the victim in the case was under the age of six years old which allowed for a punishment range between 25 years to life.
The jury convicted Braden on one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child on April 18, 2017, and, later that day, sentenced him to 25 years in prison. Braden remains jailed at the Kaufman County Jail until his eventual transfer to prison.
