KAUFMAN, Texas — The Kaufman Police Department is warning residents to Hide, Lock, and Take after a recent rash of vehicle burglaries.
Police say, of the vehicles recently burglarized, all were left unlocked.
"We continue to see high value items such as laptop computers, purses, cash, and other expensive items left in plain sight inside unlocked vehicles," stated the department.
"Most thieves go through parking lots and neighborhoods and simply pull on door handles. If it opens, they get inside and steal whatever they can find, if it does not open, THEY MOVE ON," continued the statement.
Earlier today, the department reported seven additional burglary reports.
The department provided the following tips:
HIDE any property that you must leave inside your vehicles.
LOCK your doors.
TAKE your keys.
