KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A Dallas, Texas, man, driving a rock hauler, was arrested by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Commercial Vehicle Enforcement unit last month on several violations and an outstanding warrant.
The arrest comes on the heels of several complaints county-wide from citizens concerned about rock haulers on county roads. “The purpose of the KSO CVE Unit is simply safety,” Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office representative Fred Klingelberger stated in a release. “When vehicles travel overweight or with defective equipment, it places the public in danger.”
49-year-old Miguel Anaya of Dallas, Texas, was arrested on December 29, 2014, by the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office. Anaya was driving a red Freightliner truck pulling an end-dump trailer with a 80,700-pound load of rock — 700 pounds over the rated limit of the truck.
Anaya also had outstanding warrants for commercial vehicle violations from the Denton Police Department.
The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office charged Anaya with defective equipment including four tires which were reportedly “coming apart,” failure to contain load, expired commercial motor vehicle inspection, driving while license invalid, and OTA 34K 35400 14001 over. Anaya was released on December 30, 2014, on Kaufman County bonds totaling $3,600.
