KEMP, Texas β€” A Kemp man was arrested after a high-speed chase on Monday night in Henderson County.

Around 8:30 p.m., a Henderson County deputy was searching for 30-year-old chance Pratt for an active warrant on a pardon and parole violation.

The deputy spotted a vehicle known to be driven by Pratt on County Road 2138 in the Seven Points area and attempted a traffic stop near Farm-to-Market (FM) 85. The vehicle failed to yield and fled at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

"Pratt turned east toward the City of Seven Points, reaching speeds of over 100 miles-per-hours as he drove on four different roads," stated Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse.

"He eventually left the vehicle and began running toward homes in a neighborhood, refusing to comply with orders to stop," he said. "Deputy Thornton did close in on him and Pratt surrendered."

β€œIt is never, ever a good idea to try and outrun our Deputies either in a vehicle or on foot,” Hillhouse said. β€œWe don’t give up.”

A weapon, described as a brown club and rope with black tape wrapped around the handle, was discovered in Pratt's vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and is being held on a $5,500 bond, evading arrest with a previous conviction on a $5,500 bond, and unlawful possession of a weapon on a $5,000 bond, and the pardon and parole violation.
