MESQUITE, Texas — The man at the center of modern-America's deadliest shooting was once a Mesquite, Texas, resident, according to police.

Just after 10 p.m. Sunday, 64-year-old Stephen Criag Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, across the Vegas strip, and into a large crowd of concert goers. As of noon today, at least 58 people were reportedly deceased and more than 500 were injured. Paddock was found deceased in his Mandalay hotel room.

Paddock had connections to three different properties in Mesquite, Texas, between 2004 and 2012, according to the Mesquite Police Department.

In 2010, Paddock declared his home address was in the 4800 block of Via Ventura, Mesquite, Texas.

Paddock also rented a hangar at the Mesquite Metro Airport between 2007 and 2010 where he stored one plane at the location. Police say he paid his rent on time and the airport did not have any files which indicated any negative interactions with Paddock.

"There is no record that the Mesquite, Texas Police Department has ever dealt with Paddock in any way," stated Mesquite Police Department spokesperson Lt. Brian Parrish.

"Our thoughts and prayers continue to focus on the families of the victims in Las Vegas and the members of law enforcement who lost their lives in this tragedy," he said.

"Tonight has been beyond horrific," stated country music star Jason Aldean, who was on stage performing when the shooting began. "I still don't know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night."
