SUNNYVALE, TEXAS – UPDATE [June 7] — A man has been arrested and charged with deadly conduct in connection with a road rage shooting in Sunnyvale last month.

Following media coverage of the incident, police say they received numerous tips which led them to the identification of a vehicle involved and subsequently the identity of the man believed to be the gunman in the incident.

Police say 23-year-old Kelvin White and another individual, who was White's co-worker, were leaving work in Mesquite, Texas, when their vehicles almost struck each other. From there, police say the two raced down Tripp Road in Sunnyvale, Texas, where shots were fired — at least one of which struck a separate vehicle not involved in the incident.

White was arrested on May 29, 2018, for deadly conduct, according to a release earlier today by the Dallas County Sheriff's Department. He posted a $1,500 bond and was released that same day.

ORIGINAL [May 23] — The Dallas County Sheriff's Department is seeking businesses and residents who may have surveillance video of a reported road-rage shooting incident which occurred yesterday.

The department is seeking video between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the area near the 200 block of Tripp Road in Sunnyvale.

According to the department, a motorists was traveling eastbound in the 200 block of Tripp Road when he saw a maroon-colored four-door Lexus quickly approach him from the rear when "brake checked" the vehicle. He then told police he heard three to four gun shots.

"The Lexus then moved over to the grass on the passenger side of the vehicle and then back to the left and passed the complainant on the left side," the complainant told police.

A second vehicle was possibly involved in the incident. It was described as a small black SUV that also passed the complainant's vehicle at a high rate of speed.

"The complainant is not sure which car fired the shots," stated department spokesperson Raul Reyna. "The Lexus had tinted windows and he was not able to identify the race or sex of the person inside."

"The complainant’s car had an entry hole in the back left of the trunk lid and the right rear tire was flat," stated Reyna. "The Sheriff’s Physical Evidence Section was able to collect 2 shell casings from the road in the 200 blk. of Tripp."

"The Dallas Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance from local Sunnyvale businesses and residents that have any kind of video recording along that stretch of Tripp Rd. to contact them with any footage they may have so they can review the incident," he said.

Anyone with available footage is asked to contact the Dallas County Sheriff's Department at (214) 749-8641.
