ORIGINAL Nov. 3 — A 27-year-old man is facing drug-related charges after a slow-speed police chase in Terrell on Friday afternoon, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.

Police say the man, identified as 27-year-old Cayetano Vigil Jr., was throwing stuff out of the vehicle's window and possibly ate narcotics while he fled police at speeds lower than 40 miles per hour.

The pursuit occurred around 2:30 p.m., began on Rockwall Street, briefly continued on city streets, and ended on Roosevelt Court where Vigil was blocked into the cul-de-sac.

Vigil was taken into custody without further incident. Police located 34.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine and .8 grams of Xanax.

Vigil was charged with evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams, and possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 3 less than 28 grams.

Medical treatment was sought for Vigil due to the possibility he swallowed some narcotics during the pursuit, according to Sansom.
