CRANDALL, Texas — A man sought in a fatal Louisiana shooting was apprehended in Kaufman County earlier this month and extradited to Louisiana last week.
Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Captain Fred Klingelberger says the man’s arrest came after a suspicious vehicle call in the Crandall area.
34-year-old Brian Elliot Granger was one of 10 suspects sought in the fatal shooting of Clifton Hallmark of Shreveport, Louisiana, in Turkey Creek, Louisiana, on July 1, 2016. A warrant for Granger’s arrest was issued by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.
On July 12, 2016, Granger was observed leaving the Dollar General in Crandall, Texas, in a Maroon Chevy Blazer and later stopped on U.S. Highway 175 near Farm-to-Market (FM) 1389, according to an incident report obtained by inForney.com. Granger was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, removed, and arrested without incident.
Granger was booked into the Kaufman County Jail where he was released and extradited to Louisiana on July 22, 2016. Granger was also being held on no bond for a driving while intoxicated warrant out of Montgomery County.
Authorities say Hallmark was fatally shot in the side of his head during an argument with the suspects, according to KLFY News.
Anissa Hallmark, Christian Williams, David Williams, Heather Tate, Jeremey Wade, Elizabeth Auxilien, and Micheal Auxilien have also been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. Police are still seeking Richard Smith and Leland Hamm.
