MESQUITE, Texas — A Mesquite Police Department police chase through Forney ended in a crash and foot chase early Tuesday morning, according to police.
Around 2:15 a.m., the Mesquite Police Department responded to the Hillcrest Apartments, in the area of Hillcrest Street and North Galloway Avenue, on a report of a suspicious person who was reportedly involved in an altercation the previous day.
When officers made contact with the driver, he rammed the officer’s patrol car and a nearby fence several times in an effort to flee, Mesquite Police Department Sgt. Jospeh Thompson told inForney.com.
The driver, later identified as 24-year-old Steven Olvera, fled eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 with speeds at times reaching 90 to 100 miles per hour.
The Forney Police Department joined the pursuit as it entered their city limits.
The suspect vehicle, described as a white Nissan Versa, exited County Road 212 and continued at speeds of 100 miles per hour before wrecking on the south service road just before the Spur 557 overpass and County Road 238.
Police say Olvera then fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later.

Several days later, Olvera allegedly beat a woman on Plant Lane and stole her pickup truck and some cash. He later turned himself in after police circulated surveillance photos of the TA robbery.
At the time of his arrest on Tuesday, Olvera was also wanted on a warrant in a separate aggravated robbery out of Kaufman County. That warrant, stemming from an aggravated robbery in August 2015, was issued November 16, 2017.
