KAUFMAN, Texas – The Dallas Police Department issued an arrest warrant earlier today for 22-year-old Christian Andres Ojeda, who is currently booked in the Collin County Jail on unrelated charges, for the murder of 20-year-old Manuel Rios of Kaufman, Texas.

Rios was reported missing with the Kaufman Police Department on August 17, 2014, by his mother. Rios' body was found on August 19, 2014, at approximately 7:45 a.m. in the 6500 block of I-45, just north of Overton Road, deceased of an apparent stab wound. Rios was found partially covered with a black trash bag.

On Friday, August 23, 2014, the Kaufman Police Department arrested 30-year-old Eric Ruiz Carbajal and charged him with capital murder while remuneration for a $500 β€œhit” he placed on Rios and another man, 26-year-old Derek Jordan β€œDJ” Abbott of McKinney, Texas. DJ was reported missing until Monday when investigators located him, safe and in hiding.

According to an affidavit for an arrest warrant, the hit was placed because Rios and Abbott allegedly stole money and drugs from Carbajal. The affidavit also states Rios was known to buy and sell drugs from Ojeda at a home in the 11000 block of Costolon in Dallas, Texas.

On August 18, 2014, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Rios was at Ojeda's house in Dallas when the two got into a fight and Ojeda pulled a knife – stabbing Rios once who then fell to the ground.

Ojeda's fingerprints were pulled from the trash bag covering Rios' body. Blood evidence was also found in the trunk and on the headrest of a vehicle used to relocate and dump Rios' body.

Ojeda was picked out of a lineup by several witnesses to the murder. Ojeda admitted to detectives to stabbing Rios, putting him in the car, and dumping him off the I-45 bridge.

Ojeda is currently being held in the Collin County jail on a parole violation before today when he was charged with murder, a first-degree felony, with a $500,000 bond.

Carbajal is being held in the Kaufman County jail on a $200,000 bond.
