TERRELL, Texas — One person was arrested Wednesday night following a Terrell Police Department pursuit.
The pursuit began when an officer spotted a vehicle belonging to a wanted individual just after 9 p.m. traveling on Meadows Crest Street, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom. The officer, a Terrell Police Department Narcotics Unit officer, attempted to stop the vehicle in a marked unit but the suspect fled north on North Frances Street and appeared to have thrown items from the vehicle.
The vehicle continued onto northbound State Highway (SH) 34 towards Hunt County at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour. The vehicle continued fleeing on county roads when the Texas Department of Public Safety joined the pursuit and a helicopter was dispatched to assist.
The suspect vehicle turned around near the Kaufman-Hunt County line and came back south on SH 34, west on Town North Driver, and north on Poetry Road, also known as Farm-to-Market (FM) 986.
At this point in the pursuit, the alleged suspect called police and stated he would surrender at his father’s house on County Road 245.
The pursuit came to an end in the driveway of a residence on County Road 245 just north of Terrell, Texas, without further incident. Police arrested Darrien Hathcock and charged him with evading arrest or detention in a vehicle and is also being held on five warrants out of Terrell for forgery/passing.
