MABANK, Texas — One person is in custody in connection with a verbal threat made at Mabank Independent School District's Junior High, according to a district statement on Facebook.

"All activities will continue as scheduled," read a statement from the district. "Although we feel our students are safe, we will have an increased police presence at all school activities."

"Yesterday our JH administration was made aware of an accusation of a verbal threat by a student who was in class," stated the district. "The administrators responded immediately. The child is not on campus."

"Yesterday evening a former student, who is an adult, posted on social media rumors of a threat," continued the statement. "It appears these incidents are connected."

At the time of press, the name of the suspect and pending charges had not been released.

Superintendent Lee Joffre said a letter with additional information on yesterday's incidents would be sent out later today.

This is a developing story.
