TERRELL, Texas — Police efforts in Terrell resulted in several drug-related arrests over the last week.

TERRELL, Texas — Police efforts in Terrell resulted in several drug-related arrests over the last week.

On September 20, 2017, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Terrell Police Department and SWAT team executed a narcotics search warrant at 908 North Virginia Street and detained several residents.

Police seized weapons, ammunition, approximately $900 in cash, drug paraphernalia, and suspected marijuana and methamphetamine from the southeast bedroom in the home. 29-year-old Robert Macedo indicated to police the bedroom and its content were his and he was placed under arrest.

Macedo was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams, and possession of marijuana less than two ounces. Additionally, after book-in at the Terrell Municipal Jail, a clear bag of 5.5 grams of methamphetamine was located in Macedo’s pant’s pocket and he was charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

Two other residents of the home were arrested on warrants. 40-year-old Dusti Thompson was arrested on a Mesquite Police Department warrant and 42-year-old Johnathan Rhodes was arrested on two Arlington Police Department warrants. A 23-year-old female was released at the scene.

Macedo is being held on bonds totaling $305,000.

On Monday, September 18, 2017, at approximately 10:02 p.m., patrol officers observed a white Nissan Altima parked in front of a known location for narcotics activity in the 600 block of West Newton Street. Shortly after observing the vehicle, the officers observed a black male walk from a wooded area and approach the Nissan and the Nissan left the area shortly after the male approached.

The patrol officers attempted a traffic stop on the Nissan after witnessing a traffic violation. Upon activating the emergency lights, police say a large object was seen being thrown from the passenger window of the vehicle.

“Believing that the object was narcotics, [the patrol officer] stopped the patrol vehicle and let the supervisor out of the car so that he could retrieve the suspected narcotics,” stated Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom in a press release. “The officer then continued after the vehicle as it continued to the 300 block of Frazier St.”

The Nissan continued fleeing on Frazier Street when the passenger bailed on foot and fled. The officer pursued the passenger in his vehicle and later on foot after the suspect turned at 304 Frazier Street and began cutting through driveways and front yards.

The officer caught up to the suspect near the intersection of Boone Street and Mineral Wells Street where he surrendered. He was identified as 23-year-old Davonte George.

During the foot pursuit, the supervisor secured the Nissan and its driver, 22-year-old Lakeithian Turner, who was in possession of $200 cash.

Upon review of dash cam video, officers observed George to be carrying a large clear plastic bag in his hand while he fled on foot.

A Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was requested to the scene for a free-air sniff of the vehicle, which he indicated multiple times, and to search the area of the foot pursuit for any narcotics which may have been thrown. The K-9 led officers to the area of 304 Frazier Street, where George had ran to before redirecting, and located a clear plastic bag with crack cocaine. Additional search revealed a large bag with smaller bags containing marijuana which resembled the bag officers observed in George’s hand during the foot pursuit.

Officers later obtained a search warrant for a safe which was located in the trunk of the vehicle during an inventory check to impound the vehicle. The search warrant was signed by Kaufman County 422nd District Court Judge B. Michael Chitty and George indicated the safe belonged to him.

“Officers opened the safe which contained a Crown Royal bag and several small clear plastic baggies commonly used for packaging illegal narcotics,” stated Sansom. “Due to both Turner and George leaving the residence which is known for narcotics activity and being in the possession of narcotics, cash, and the multiple plastic baggies in the safe, they are both being charged with the offenses of [manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to one gram and less than four grams] and [possession of marijuana less than two ounces].”

George was also charged with evading arrest or detention. He is being held on bonds totaling $108,000.

Turner is being held on $103,000 bonds on charges related to his incident, no bond on a Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office charge for robbery, and an administrative release violation from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Parole Division.

On September 14, 2017, the Terrell Police Department arrested 35-year-old Christopher Drake Bryant and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to one gram and less than four grams and two counts of possession of marijuana less than two ounces. Bonds on the marijuana possession are set at $7,500 each and $125,000 on the first charge. Details on Bryant’s arrest were not immediately available.
