TERRELL, Texas — A stolen firearm was used during a disturbance and shooting incident in Terrell on Saturday night.
Police say the suspect brandished the stolen firearm while confronting three victims at a cookout. The victims, however, wrestled the firearm from the suspect and pistol whipped him with it.
Around 8:14 p.m., the Terrell Police Department initially received a 911 call in regards to a disturbance involving weapons in the 200 block of South Rockwall, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.
While investigating that call, Sansom says a second related call was dispatched in the 100 block of Mitchell Circle.
Witnesses told police a man, identified as 30-year-old Tico Robinson, was with his brother, who was not identified, when he pulled a pistol on the three victims while they were at the cookout. Robinson and the victims reportedly had an ongoing feud.
One of the victims was able to gain control of the pistol and struck Robinson with it before leaving the location.
Robinson reportedly went back to his car, retrieved another pistol, and followed the victim to the 100 block of Mitchell Circle where they both exchanged gunfire.
The victim used the pistol he had previously taken from Robinson to return fire, according to Sansom. That pistol had been previously reported stolen and has been recovered in this case.
The Terrell Police Department later received a call about a man, later identified as Robinson, who was at Baylor, Scott & White in Sunnyvale with minor injuries and abrasions to the head.
Police do not believe Robinson’s injuries are gunshot related but Robinson reported it as such.
Sansom says Robinson’s role as the aggressor in the disturbances was corroborated by witnesses.
Robinson was treated and released from Baylor, Scott & White and later arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, and theft of a firearm. He is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on bonds totaling $550,000.
