TERRELL, Texas (Terrell Police Department) — A man and a woman suspected of being involved in trafficking methamphetamine in the City of Terrell were arrested on Thursday after they were observed driving in an area of the city being observed by Narcotics Investigators.
Police have been receiving information regarding possible narcotics activity for about six months.
At about 2:49 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015, the Street Narcotics Unit stopped a black and purple Dodge pick-up in the 200 block of Jackson Street after it failed to signal for a turn. The vehicle did not normally stop or yield to police and at two different times, before coming to a stop, both the driver's door and the passenger's doors abruptly opened.
Once the vehicle came to a stop, the driver, Chad Wade Nelson, 33 years of age of Wills Point, as well as the passenger, Melissa Kay Williamson, 30 years of age of Terrell, were both scrambling around inside the vehicle and refusing to obey commands to keep their hands in view. Eventually officers were able to check the vehicle and discovered drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance in the car, along with small baggies used to package illegal narcotics and a digital scale.
The driver was arrested for the traffic charge. The passenger, Williamson, had two felony- capias pro-fine warrants of Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office.
Additionally, Williamson was found in possession of 7.1 grams of methamphetamine and over $1,800.00 in illicit U.S. Currency. Depending upon how it is sold, the street value of the drugs is around $700.00. The police will file an asset forfeiture case for the illicit funds.
Both subjects were taken to the Terrell Municipal Holding Facility. Williamson was charged with possession of CS PG1 greater than or equal to 4G and less than 200 grams and possession of CS PG3 <28 grams. Williamson will be transferred to the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center on Friday.
