FORNEY, Texas — A call of a suspicious person and vehicle turned search and felony evading arrest Sunday afternoon in Windmill Farms. The suspicious vehicle was also determined to have been stolen out of Dallas County.
At 12:12 p.m., the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call about a suspicious person and vehicle on Preston Trail in the Windmill Farms neighborhood.
Precinct 2 Constable’s Office Deputy Frias was already in the area on patrol under the newly-inked extra-patrol contract and responded to the residence. Frias observed a male subject enter the residence, checked the vehicle’s registration, and determined the vehicle’s license plate did not match the vehicle’s description.
The vehicle was determined to be stolen out of Dallas County, according to Precinct 2 Constable Jason Johnson.
Frias backed away from the residence to await additional units who were responding from the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Forney Police Department.
The male subject exited the house and re-entered the vehicle, at which point Frias pulled his vehicle in front of the suspect vehicle — to prevent the male subject from fleeing the scene in the vehicle. Frias attempted to make contact with the male subject when he fled back inside the residence and locked the door.
A female subject inside the house fled out a back window.
When backup arrived, police officers forced entry into the home and located the male subject hiding in a closet. He was taken into custody without further incident.
The male subject, who has not been identified at this time, is also on probation in Collin County, according to Johnson.
Its unknown why the female subject fled the residence. Johnson says her criminal history will be investigated.
The male subject will be booked into the Kaufman County Jail on charges for evading arrest or detention and possession of stolen property, according to Johnson.
