CRANDALL, Texas — A Kaufman County grand jury indicted a 17-year-old teen who was jailed in September for charges related to two separate shooting incidents in Heartland and Crandall.
17-year-old Diayeveon Ross was arrested September 14, 2016, and was charged with deadly conduct and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The indictment was issued on October 12, 2016.
Police say Ross fired a .22-caliber rifle in the area of Shawnee Trail in Heartland — one round struck the back porch of a residence which caused debris to strike a 911 caller who reported shots fired in the area.
Nearly four hours later, Ross allegedly fired the same gun several times at a 19-year-old victim in the 200 block of Rolling Ridge Court in Crandall, Texas. Ross attempted to flee a residence when police arrived but was arrested without further incident.
“Ross gave a verbal and written statement admitting his involvement in the deadly conduct and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon,” Crandall Police Department Dean Winters told inForney.com following Ross’ arrest in September.
The firearm used in the incidents was recovered.
