FORT WORTH, Texas — A Terrell, Texas, man was arrested Tuesday on an aggravated kidnapping charge out of Dallas and was also questioned in a Fort Worth home invasion and double shooting.

On Sunday, Dallas police say 50-year-old James Ernest Floyd Jr. allegedly kidnapped a man at gunpoint in the 1500 block of East Louisiana, took him to Terrell, and later released him.

Police were able to identify Floyd at the time but were unable to locate him.

On Tuesday, the Fort Worth Police Department began investigating a home invasion in which a person shot an elderly couple before stealing their blue Kia and fleeing the scene.

Fort Worth police located a sedan, with a flat tire, at a gas station near the home invasion. That vehicle led them to Terrell where a credit card stolen from the home invasion was reportedly used at a Terrell gas station.

Later in the day on Tuesday, police arrested Floyd in the 1000 block of South Frances Street and charged him with aggravated kidnapping in connection with the Dallas case. He was booked into the Kaufman County Jail where he remains on a $50,000 bond and a parole violation. He is expected to be transferred to the Dallas County Jail.

The blue Kia from the Fort Worth case was later located in Terrell at the Texas Apartments in the 1000 block of Mineral Wells.

Fort Worth police have yet to charge or identify Floyd as a suspect in their home invasion case but had announced a person of interest was taken into custody in Terrell on Tuesday.

This is a developing story.
