Terrell man stabbed in dispute over video game

TERRELL, Texas — A 49-year-old Terrell man was stabbed Tuesday night in what police say was an alcohol-involved dispute over a video game.

TERRELL, Texas — A 49-year-old Terrell man was stabbed Tuesday night in what police say was an alcohol-involved dispute over a video game.

The stabbing occurred in the 100 block of Charles Lane in Terell at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

Police discovered the victim sitting on a bench on the front porch of the residence, surrounded by blood, and with blood visible in the driveway and inside the home, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.

The alleged suspect, 32-year-old Christopher Ray Minjarez, was standing in the street when he was identified by witnesses. When contacted by officers, Sansom says, “he voluntarily and instantly confessed and surrendered.”

Minjarez also provided police with the location of two knives, the larger of which was used in the incident. Both were secured as evidence.

“He waived his right to counsel and gave a full account of his actions,” stated Sansom. “Alcohol was involved and the incident stemmed from a disagreement over a video game.”

The victim was stabbed twice, once in the forearm and once in the chest, and was transported to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He was listed in stable condition on Wednesday morning.

“The suspect showed great signs of remorse during transport,” stated Sansom.

Manjarez was charged with aggravated assault against a date, family, or household member with a weapon. Bond information was not available at the time of press.
