TERRELL, Texas — An early morning operation led by Terrell Police Department Narcotics Investigators and the Kaufman County SWAT team resulted in a significant drug bust and the arrest of a local man on December 28, 2023.

Samuel Cordero, 41, of Kaufman, was detained and later arrested at his residence at 1096 James Dr. in Kaufman, Texas, following the execution of a narcotics search warrant.

The search yielded 1.29 kilograms of powder cocaine and $12,756.66 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales. An additional estimated $20,000 was also seized from various associated accounts used for illicit activities. Cordero is charged with MAN DEL CS PG 1 >400G, and two vehicles were also seized from the location.

"This is a clear testament of what this specialized team is capable of doing when they are properly funded, staffed and equipped. We have received incredible support over the last few years from our community, and our city leadership. This team deserves the credit. This is a big win for them and for the Community of Terrell," stated Interim Chief of Police Arley Sansom.

The successful operation is the result of increased staffing in the Narcotics unit, funded by the Terrell mayor and city council over the past two years, says Sansom. The additional manpower has allowed for more comprehensive investigations, as demonstrated by this substantial drug and money seizure.

"The safety of our citizens is always a high priority for this mayor and council. It is our hope that this sends a strong message that we will not tolerate this conduct in and around our community," stated Terrell Mayor Rick Carmona.
