TERRELL, Texas — A shooting call in Terrell led to several arrests, the seizure of a firearm, and the recovery of nearly five pounds of marijuana.

TERRELL, Texas — A shooting call in Terrell led to several arrests, the seizure of a firearm, and the recovery of nearly five pounds of marijuana.

Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom says the incident began around 11:15 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016, at a residence in the 700 block of New Hope Street when several subjects attempted to rob the resident of drugs and money.

“Eventually, the incident spilled outside in the front yard and shots were exchanged between [the resident] and the robbery suspects,” stated Sansom.

Police received information a dark sedan fled the scene. The sedan was later located nearby and stopped by police.

Sansom described the subsequent investigation as “complicated” and involved units from the Criminal Investigations Division, Narcotics, and Forensics.

A search warrant for the home on New Hope was executed. Sansom says police recovered .380 caliber ammo from inside the home and two spent 7.62 caliber casings outside the home which were believed to have been fired by the robbery suspects.

In the dumpster outside, police recovered a .380 caliber handgun and a black bag which contained three large bags of nearly five pounds of suspected marijuana.

During the investigation, a juvenile was arrested and transferred to the Hunt County Juvenile Detention Center for possession of marijuana under two ounces, 26-year-old Kirk Garner Junior or Terrell, Texas, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of firearm by a felon, and 18-year-old Steven Daniels of Terrell was arrested for driving while license suspended.

Three other subjects were detained and released after further investigation, according to Sansom.

“This investigation is still ongoing,” said Sansom.
