TERRELL, Texas — Police in Terrell are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a team of thieves who burglarized the Cash Store early Monday morning and made off with the business’ safe.
Earlier this year, the Cash Store was robbed at gun point in broad daylight.
Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom says police officers responded to the Cash Store in the 1800 block of West Moore Avenue at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016, in reference to a burglary.
Video surveillance from the Cash Store shows two subjects break through a window and make entry. Those two subjects then began striking the safe with sledgehammers in an effort to break it free from being bolted to the ground.
The subjects successfully broke the safe free and fled, with safe in hand, out the back door of the business to an awaiting vehicle.
“The subjects were both male and slim in build,” according to Sansom. “One subject was wearing a black hoodie, black pants and gloves.”
“The other subject was wearing a red or pink hoodie with tan pants and white gloves,” stated Sansom. “Both subjects had their faces covered with some type of mask.”
A witness reported seeing a gray Kia SUV parked at the back of the business with another male subject, who was wearing a dark hoodie, standing next to the vehicle. The witness saw the vehicle flee the scene at a high rate of speed.
That same morning, the Dallas Police Department recovered the safe in the area of Plano Road and Interstate 635, according to Sansom.
In the robbery earlier this year, two black males robbed the teller at gunpoint and fled out the back door with an undetermined amount of cash to an awaiting vehicle. They were believed to have fled in a silver Jeep Cherokee.
That robbery took place on January 13, 2016, and the individuals are also suspected in a similar robbery the same day at a Cash Store in Seagoville, Texas. At the time, police believed the robberies were linked with at least six others in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
