TALTY, Texas — A third person has been arrested in connection with a Talty-area shooting which occurred Sunday night, April 23, 2017.
Two others were arrested the night of the shooting in the 8000 block of Kelton Drive just south of Talty and north of Crandall.
The shooting left one man injured — having been shot multiple times and later airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital. Police say he is expected to survive his injuries.
On Thursday, April 27, 2017, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested 29-year-old Antonio Arce-Romero at a residence in Dallas, Texas. He was arrested without incident, according to Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Investigator Jolie Stewart.
Romero was wanted on a bond forfeiture warrant for a previous deadly conduct incident in 2016. He was initially booked on that charge on June 18, 2016, and released the next day on a $10,000 bond.
Romero now faces a charge for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office on a $200,000 bond. Additionally, Romero is being held on a $20,000 bond for the previous deadly conduct charge and an immigration detainer.
42-year-old Pedro Flores-Pedraza and 45-year-old Jose Hernandez were also charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting. They were arrested the night of the incident and booked into the Kaufman County Jail with $40,000 bonds on each charge. Both Pedraza and Hernandez are also being held on immigration detainers.
Stewart says the individuals were at a gathering when an argument broke out and escalated to a shooting.
An unrelated residence was struck by the gunfire, Stewart stated. No injuries were reported at that residence.
