MESQUITE, Texas — Three suspects were arrested in Forney on Sunday night in connection with a Mesquite robbery and theft from person, according to police.
The incident occurred Sunday night in Mesquite when the three individuals approached a person on foot, assaulted that person, and took the person’s property.
While Mesquite police officers were investigating the incident in their city, Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office Deputy G. Frias observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the Windmill Farms neighborhood and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was released with a warning.
Mesquite police then issued a be-on-the-lookout notification for the suspect vehicle and notified the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center which in turn alerted Frias that the previously stopped vehicle matched the description wanted in Mesquite.
Frias located the vehicle nearby which had blacked out its lights in an attempt to conceal their location. Frias conducted a felony traffic stop and awaited backup units from the Mesquite Police Department.
The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested without incident, according to Pct. 2 Constable Jason Johnson.
One of the suspects is currently facing charges for robbery while the other two face charges for theft from person, according to the Mesquite Police Department. They are currently being interviewed by detectives and could face additional charges.
