TERRELL, Texas — Three women were arrested last week in separate incidents in Terrell on charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, arson, and endangering a child with criminal negligence.
On Monday, at approximately 9 p.m., the Terrell Police Department received a 911 call of an attempted arson at a residence in the 900 block of South Medora Street, Captain A.D. Sansom told inForney.com in response to a media inquiry.
The victims observed 44-year-old Aleta King, who was known to them, approach their residence. When she did not come to their door as expected, they looked out another window and observed flames near their home's foundation, according to Sansom.
Minor damage was reported to the home including nearby grass and debris that was singed and siding on the house was discolored from a splashed liquid believed to be a flammable accelerant. A strong odor from the flammable accelerant was reported.
King fled the residence but was located on Wednesday and taken into custody without further incident. She is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on a charge for arson with a $100,000 bond.
On Tuesday, just after 6 a.m., the Terrell Police Department responded to the 600 block of North Virginia in reference to a family disturbance involving a knife, alleged drug abuse, and alleged improper care of children.
24-year-old Kalilah Hart allegedly pulled a knife on a family member. While police were dispatched, Hart put the knife down and was sitting under the front porch.
"An on-scene investigation was conducted and evidence was secured supporting the charge," stated Sansom.
Hart was charged with aggravated assault to a family or household member with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony, and is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on a $100,000 bond. Hart is also being held on a Kaufman County Sheriff's Office warrant for criminal mischief over $100 and less than $750 with a $3,000 bond.
On Thursday, at approximately 2 p.m., the Terrell Police Department was dispatched to the Stone Creek Apartments at 200 Lovers Lane in reference to a disturbance between a man and woman in the parking lot.
The couple, according to Sansom, was arguing when the female assaulted the male and ripped his shirt.
The man attempted to leave the location in his vehicle but was blocked by another vehicle at the exit. That's when the woman, identified as 26-year-old Diane Perez began allegedly striking the man's vehicle with her cell phone, causing damage, and then entered her 2007 Ford Fusion and began ramming his vehicle.
A 3-year-old and 1-year-old were in the man's vehicle at the time of the incident. The man was able to eventually flee the location and call the police.
Perez was arrested and charged with two counts of abandon or endanger a child with criminal negligence and $10,000 bonds on each and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with a $75,000 bond. She has since been released from the Kaufman County Jail.
