UPDATE: Kaufman man wanted in connection with deadly Seagoville shooting arrested

SEAGOVILLE, Texas — The Seagoville Police Department made an arrest Monday in a deadly Seagoville shooting which left a Mesquite man dead and another injured Sunday night.

Police arrested 22-year-old Logan Michael Drumm of Kaufman, Texas, and charged him with murder and aggavated assault with a deadly weapon after they say he shot two individuals in the Texas Shade Mobile Home Park in Seagoville, Texas, on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at approximately 3:25 p.m. — resulting in the death of one.

Witnesses reported a lone gunman fleeing on foot from the mobile home park into an adjacent wooded area. Drumm was arrested Monday in the 400 block of Sunrise Circle without incident after knocking on an individual’s door in the 2400 block of Seagoville Road — both areas back up to the wooded area adjacent to the mobile home park.

The Seagoville Police Department searched overnight for Drumm with the assistance of a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter, the Dallas and Kaufman County Sheriff’s Offices, and K-9 units.

Both shooting victims were transported to Dallas area hospitals. 46-year-old Steven Paul Cobb of Mesquite, Texas, was later pronounced deceased. The second victim, 42-year-old Tracey Keith Greenwood, was listed in stable condition Monday.

An arrest warrant was issued for Drumm overnight. Drumm was known to frequent areas of Kaufman, Gun Barrel City, and Dallas, Texas.

An arrest affidavit for Drumm reveals the shooting may have been over a bag of personal belongings thought to have been stolen — including “an expensive pair of jeans and shoes” and a binder with Logan’s personal documents.

After staying overnight at a residence in the mobile home park with an acquaintance, Drumm and the acquaintance were reportedly involved in an argument. Both Drumm and the acquaintance were asked to leave the residence to which they were guests.

Drumm returned to the residence on October 5, 2014, at approximately 4:30 a.m. and accused the resident at the home, including Cobb and Greenwood, of stealing his personal belongings. The resident stated she was unaware of any belongings left at the home, according to the affidavit.

Drumm remained at the home throughout the day, states the affidavit. The resident was later awakened by Drumm with a cell phone with Greenwood on the line. Greenwood informed the resident he was on the way to residence to inform Drumm he was not responsible for Drumm’s missing belongings.

When Greenwood’s truck arrived with Cobb, Drumm “exited through the front door of the trailer home, produced a handgun, and immediately began to fire shots at Greenwood and Cobb as he was walking down the front steps toward them,” states the affidavit.

Cobb fell to the ground in front of Greenwood’s truck and Greenwood fled towards the front management office of the mobile park. Greenwood sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his extremities and Cobb was shot once, according to the affidavit.

Six .40-caliber semi-automatic spent casings were located and recovered near the front of the residence. Two bullets struck Greenwood’s truck and another two bullet holes were discovered in a nearby residence.

Clothing and a binder identified as belonging to Drumm were recovered by Seagoville Police Department investigators on the kitchen counter of the residence.

Drumm reportedly shouted “I’ll teach you [expletive] to take my [expletive,]” according to the affidavit. Drumm told the resident he believed Cobb and Greenwood were there to “jump him.”

Drumm is being held in the Dallas County Jail on murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges, first and second degree felonies, respectively. Bond on the murder charge is set at $500,000 and bond on the assault charge is set at $100,000.

The mobile home park is located at 2414 U.S. Highway 175 in Seagoville, Texas.
