KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A Dallas County Sheriff’s Office pursuit, which briefly entered Kaufman County, ended in a rollover crash in Balch Springs on Tuesday night.

The pursuit began just after 9 p.m. in Dallas County where a deputy attempted a traffic stop a pickup truck pulling a small, enclosed Uhaul trailer. The vehicle failed to yield to the police officer.

The pursuit would eventually find its way onto eastbound Interstate 20 into Kaufman County when a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter joined the pursuit.

The suspect vehicle exited Farm-to-Market (FM) 2932 and Helms Trail just south of Forney. The vehicle turned north on FM 2932, south on FM 741, and back westbound on Interstate 20. The vehicle then exited and continued to flee police on several residential streets in the Balch Springs area before overturning the truck and trailer on the Elam Road IH 635 northbound onramp.

The male driver was taken into custody without further incident. Several Dallas County Sheriff's Office Auto Theft task force members were on scene.

One vehicle was reportedly struck by the fleeing suspect near the Dallas-Kaufman County line.

The Forney Police Department and Kaufman County Sheriff's Office were requested to assist while in the Kaufman County-Forney area before the pursuit turned back towards Dallas County. The Balch Springs Police Department assisted once the pursuit entered their city limits and the Balch Springs Fire Department responded to the crash.

A request for additional information has been made with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
