TALTY, Texas — Police are filing warrants at-large for several suspects in connection with a series of auto theft cases in Talty and Mesquite.
Earlier this week, police say several suspects allegedly stole two pickup trucks from Mesquite, Texas, and were involved in an altercation with one of the complainants, injuring him.
Yesterday, the suspects were in one of the stolen pickup trucks when they attempted to purchase gas at the Exxon in Talty, Texas, with a stolen credit card. The clerk denied the charge and the suspects stole another pickup truck from the gas station.
Police were able to track the newly stolen pickup truck with GPS eastbound on Interstate 20, north on Farm-to-Market (FM) 2578, and east on FM 987 into Kaufman, Texas.
The suspects parked the newly stolen pickup truck in a driveway on North Dallas Street in Kaufman, Texas, and fled on foot. The pickup truck was unoccupied when officers arrived on scene.
The Kaufman Police Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety assisted the Talty Police Department in searching the area for the suspects.
They may have possibly fled the area in one of the trucks stolen in Mesquite which is described as a white 2001 Chevy 1/2 ton.
Talty Police Department Chief Mike Hoskins says affidavits are being filed to issue at-large warrants for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state-jail felony. The suspects face similar charges in Mesquite.
Their identities have not been released.
This is a developing story.
