FORNEY, Texas (Forney Independent School District) – Forney ISD recently began a new endeavor in an effort to design and develop the future of education in our district.
The Innovation and Design Team, consisting of district administrators, teachers, staff members, students, parents, and community members held their first meeting on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. The ultimate goal of the Innovation and Design Team is to develop a process and plan for Forney ISD that includes curriculum, technology, facilities, and personnel.
In 2014, Forney ISD initiated a process with district employees, students, parents and community members to evaluate the district’s goals and strategies. The end result of planning and processing, titled Forney Focus, was the development of six goals which were presented to and approved by the Forney ISD Board of Trustees. These six goals are:
Learning Organization: We will have a sound and efficient learning organization that supports learning and prepares for transition.
Learning Standards: We will implement research-based curriculum through relevant, engaging and innovative instruction that meets the needs of all learners.
Learning Environment: We will create a diverse learning environment tailored to the needs of our students.
Assessment: We will continuously use formative and summative assessments for the students, educators, campuses, and district to encourage learning, mastery, and growth.
Digital Literacy: We will integrate technology that develops students to live, learn, earn, and play responsibly in a digital world.
Community Partnerships: We will develop parent and community partnerships that will promote relationships that expand opportunities for students.
On Tuesday, March 28, the Innovation and Design Team collaborated, discussing each of the six board goals, the many accomplishments of Forney ISD, and the hopes for the district’s future. Team members analyzed each goal, focusing on future impacts at early elementary, late elementary, middle school, and high school grade levels. Many rich conversations transpired as members discussed the various opportunities to take Forney ISD to the next level of excellence.
In addition to the Innovation and Design Team’s feedback, Forney ISD wants the community’s input as we begin the visioning process for Forney Focus 2.0.
