TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell Independent School District has scheduled a special meeting to discuss Superintendent Michael French's request to resign prior to the remaining five years of his contract.
The special meeting will be held on August 8, 2019, at 12:15 p.m. in the Board Room at Terrell ISD's Administration Building.
"The Superintendent has requested to be afforded the opportunity to resign prior to the remaining 5 years of his contract," Terrell ISD Communications Director Olivia Rice told inForney.com.
The board will establish quorum before entering into a closed-door executive session to discuss French's request to resign and a voluntary resignation agreement, according to the agenda.
Following the executive session, the board will hold a public hearing "regarding payments of funds in excess of the contractual amount" in French's contract as part of his request in a voluntary resignation agreement.
The board will then, in public meeting, discuss and consider possible action on French's request.
In December 2018, the board voted to extended French's contract by one year, to expire on June 30, 2024, and amended his contract.
