TERRELL, Texas β 16-year-old Austria Arnold of Terrell, Texas, will compete in the National Cutting Horse Association's World Finals competition in Fort Worth, Texas, this week.
Arnold leads the pack in the National Cutting Horse Association's Youth Senior division with 122 points earned, 30 points more than her nearest challenger, at 49 shows competing against under-18 competitors from across the country. Arnold will compete with her 7-year-old mare Freckles Meow to obtain the World Championship title.
Arnold is a junior at the Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas, and is the daughter of Terrell equine veterinarian Dr. Kent Arnold and Carroll Brown Arnold.
Arnold is no amateur to the World Finals. In 2013, she placed 10th in National Cutting Horse Association's Junior Youth division. Arnold also won several awards in the competition arena including the American Quarter Horse Association's High-Point Youth Cutter award for the last three years.
The Top 15 point earners qualified for the World Finals this week. Among those Top 15 was Trevor Pritchett of Quinlan, Texas β an Arnold family friend. Pritchett is leading the National Horse Cutting Association's Rookie of the Year standings with 57 points earned at 24 shows. Pritchett is ranked 6th in Youth Senior division.
The National Horse Cutting Association's youth World Finals will take place Monday, July 21, Tuesday, July 22, and Wednesday, July 23, in the Will Rogers Watt Arena at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The competition is free to the public and begins each night at 6 p.m.
The 2014 Champions will be crowned at the conclusion of the competition.
