KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — An 18-wheeler hauling sand overturned on State Highway (SH) 34 on Thursday just before noon, forcing a partial closure of the highway south of Rosser, Texas, near the Ellis-Kaufman County line.
The 18-wheeler was traveling north on SH 34 when it went off the right shoulder of the highway, over corrected, and veered back across the highway where the trailer overturned — spilling its load of sand onto the highway, according to police.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to an area hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
A heavy-duty wrecker is on scene to upright the 18-wheeler’s trailer and a skid-loader is working to remove the sand from the road. Expect alternating lanes of traffic on the highway.
