18-wheeler rollover accident on U.S. Highway 80

FORNEY, Texas – An 18-wheeler overturned on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 just east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 on Saturday afternoon, September 6, 2014 – resulting in the highway being closed for more than four hours.

FORNEY, Texas – An 18-wheeler overturned on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 just east of Farm-to-Market (FM) 460 on Saturday afternoon, September 6, 2014 – resulting in the highway being closed for more than four hours.

The 18-wheeler slid down the highway embankment and rolled onto its side at approximately 5:33 p.m. Eastbound 80 was closed while a heavy duty wrecker worked to remove the 18-wheeler. Traffic was diverted to the south service road at FM 460. The 18-wheeler was uprighted and pulled from the embankment nearly four hours later. The left lane of U.S. Highway 80 reopened at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Crews unloaded some of the trailer's contents before uprighting the trailer.

No injuries were reported for the driver of the 18-wheeler. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. The wreck was cleared from the highway just after 11 p.m.

Two other minor accidents occurred in the area after 9 p.m. One accident was on westbound U.S. Highway 80 near the Dallas County line and the other accident was about 15 minutes later in the same area on the eastbound side of the highway.
