FORNEY, Texas — An 18-wheeler trailer fire forced the closure of eastbound U.S. Highway 80 early Tuesday morning at the East Fork Trinity River.

The fire was reported at approximately 1:45 a.m. on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 just before Farm-to-Market (FM) 460. The trailer reportedly experienced a blow-out which resulted in the rear tires igniting in flames.

The Forney Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze and relieved traffic just after 3 a.m. A heavy-duty wrecker service worked Tuesday morning to remove the trailer from the highway.

The tractor was able to unhook from the trailer and did not sustain any damage. No injuries were reported.

This is a developing story.
