Alcohol suspected in Friday morning crash, vehicle partially submerged near river

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A woman escaped her partially submerged vehicle after crashing near the East Fork Trinity River at the Kaufman-Dallas County line early Friday morning.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A woman escaped her partially submerged vehicle after crashing near the East Fork Trinity River at the Kaufman-Dallas County line early Friday morning.

The woman’s vehicle became partially submerged in freezing water just west of the East Fork Trinity River levee. A man on his way to work noticed the vehicle in the water’s interior lights on, pulled over, and called 911 at approximately 3 a.m.

The woman was able to escape her vehicle uninjured but was later arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Arrested was 23-year-old Teresa Olvera of Combine, Texas, and charged with driving while intoxicated and booked into the Kaufman County Jail. A bond amount was not yet available.
