Anticipated thunderstorms prompt Flood Watch for Kaufman County

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Heavy rains and thunderstorms in the forecast have prompted a Flood Watch for Kaufman County from Tuesday morning into Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Heavy rains and thunderstorms in the forecast have prompted a Flood Watch for Kaufman County from Tuesday morning into Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas.

"Showers and thunderstorms associated with an upper level trough and an approaching cold front will be on the increase over the next few days," according to the NWS. "Abundant Gulf moisture will be in place through Wednesday night, which will lead to locally heavy rain and possible flooding."

Multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected over the watch period which could bring two to four inches of rain with localized amounts of six inches.

Flooding is possible in low lying ares, creeks, rivers, and any other flood-prone areas, according to the NWS.

The Flood Watch also includes the following counties: Bosque, Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Falls, Fannin, Freestone, Grayson, Hill, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Limestone, McLennan, Navarro, Rockwall, Tarrant, Anderson, Delta, Henderson, Hopkins, Lamar, Rains, and Van Zandt.
