KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Firefighters worked late into the night extinguishing a barn fire in rural Kaufman County on Saturday.
The College Mound Volunteer Fire Department, with mutual aid from the Elmo Volunteer Fire Department, responded to the 6100 block of Sue Anne Lane for a reported barn on fire, at 9:22 p.m.
Both departments arrived to find a barn in a field fully engulfed in flames, according to College Mound VFD Safety Officer Terry Van Sickle. Due to limited access, only brush trucks were able to access the fire. Tankers were set up at the front of the property to supply water.
As of 11 p.m., firefighters continued to attack hot spots. There were no reports of animals or livestock in the barn at the time of the fire.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
