KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A blown tire on an 18-wheeler is to blame for a series of large grass fires along Interstate 20 in eastern Kaufman County.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A blown tire on an 18-wheeler is to blame for a series of large grass fires along Interstate 20 in eastern Kaufman County.
At approximately 7:45 p.m. , the Elmo Volunteer Fire Department, College Mound Volunteer Fire Department, and the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fires on the outside shoulder of Interstate 20 in between mile markers 512 and 509.
Firefighters knocked down a majority of the fires just before 8:45 p.m. and remained for mop-up until approximately 8:50 p.m. when all units cleared.
The 18-wheeler with the blown tire did eventually stop.
On Sunday afternoon, Firefighters from Forney and Terrell responded to 11 separate grass fires on Interstate 20 between mile markers 499 and 493. These fires were blamed on sparks coming from a truck pulling a small cement mixture trailer.
