FORNEY, Texas — The Forney City Council approved a preliminary plat and a final plat for Brooklyn Estates, formerly Stonebriar Estates, for a proposed 195 lots to be developed in two phases.
Earlier this year, the developer requested changes to their planned development to achieve a “New England Cottage” style appearance of the homes they planned to build but also requested the addition of alleys which had been originally approved by the Forney City Council in 2004 but were later removed in an amendment to the plans in 2007. The Planning and Zoning Commission tabled the developers request at that meeting.
Since then, the developer has decided to move forward with their 2007 plans which comply with the city’s existing planned development standards. The city council approved the overall preliminary plat for the 195 lots and also a final plat for 111 lots, known as Brooklyn Village Phase I.
The complete development is generally located south of Bowie Street and east of Pinson Avenue/Farm-to-Market 740.
The development will be connected to the existing neighborhood in three places: once with an entrance from Bowie Street west of Meadow Lane, an entrance which will be an extension of Meadow Lane, and an entrance which is an extension of Longhorn Lane. Developers will also construct an eight-foot wide trail connection to the existing trail system at Mustang Creek Park, in accordance with parkland dedication standards.
