Brunch Room Bistro: A Culinary Gem in Forney

By The Forney Foodie

In a town where brunch options are as plentiful as bad left turns on FM 548, Brunch Room Bistro manages to rise to the top of the stack. Nestled in Forney, this Southern-inspired brunch and dinner spot brings comfort food with a chef’s touch, all served in a clean, modern setting accompanied by easy-listening R&B music, creating a relaxing atmosphere for your late Saturday morning meal.

Appetizers to Start Your Day

We kicked things off with fried green tomatoes served on a bed of coleslaw. They arrived hot and crispy, with two tomatoes that were tart but not overly green. The slaw underneath had a surprising kick—a touch sweet with a spicy finish that lingered just long enough to make its presence known.

The coffee? Good old Folgers. Nothing fancy, just that classic kitchen-table taste that transported me back to my momma’s house, minus the Garfield mug.

Hearty Main Courses

For the main course, I opted for the chicken fried chicken paired with scrambled eggs and potatoes. The gravy leaned more towards an etouffee style than a classic cream sauce, but it complemented the seasoning beautifully, adding a Louisiana vibe to the plate. The eggs were fluffy and light, cooked to perfection—a small detail that speaks volumes about the kitchen's expertise. The potatoes were generously seasoned with Cajun spice and cooked just right.

Decadent Sweet Options

Another member of our party ordered the strawberries and cream pancakes. These were not only beautiful but also delicious. Dinner-plate-sized and fluffy, they were stacked high and topped with a thick strawberry compote and icing that was rich enough to make syrup entirely unnecessary.

Two others indulged in the Nutella-stuffed French toast, a true showstopper. The thick, custardy bread was filled with Nutella and adorned with candied nuts, whipped cream icing, and fresh bananas. Once again, syrup was rendered unnecessary. The bacon we ordered for the table was exactly how bacon should be: crisp, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.

Final Thoughts

While Brunch Room Bistro may not be the cheapest spot in town, as they say, you get what you pay for. In a town filled with solid breakfast joints, Brunch Room Bistro might just be the best of the bunch.
