FORNEY, Texas — A car veered off Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 early Saturday morning, crashed through a brick wall, and overturned into a nearby backyard — killing the driver.
The crash occurred just after 3 a.m. on FM 548 at a bend in the road between Melody Lane and Sycamore Trail. The car was traveling northbound when it veered across the southbound lanes and off the road, went airborne, struck a brick wall, and overturned into a backyard of a home on Madrone Trail.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, was ejected and thrown into another backyard. He was transported to Lake Pointe hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
The woman who called 911 said she was awoken by the sound of the crash which was just feet from her bedroom window. She said she is blessed the vehicle or the engine, which came dislodged in the crash, didn’t crash through her bedroom wall.
Police have not released the identity of the man pending notification of next of kin.
The Forney Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
