FORNEY, Texas — The City of Forney has recently expanded their social media outreach in an initiative to better connect with residents.

FORNEY, Texas — The City of Forney has recently expanded their social media outreach in an initiative to better connect with residents.

“Social media has taken over the country by storm and for local government this is no exception,” stated City of Forney Public Information Officer Kyle Rouvaldt who was the winner of the Texas Association of Municipal Officers (TAMIO) award for best use of social media in Texas in 2013.

“The City of Forney, like many other local municipalities in the area, is quickly turning to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many other outlets to get their messages out to the public,” stated Rouvaldt.

Rouvaldt, a 2005 graduate of Forney High School and a 2009 graduate of Texas A&M University, was hired by the city in October 2014.

"The way we live in today, residents always ask for and deserve the most up-to-date information the City has, in regards to economic development, growth, and even City sponsored events." said Rouvaldt. "Not only does Twitter and Facebook allow us to share information, but both offer a unique way to interact with residents, especially Twitter".
