KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A cold front moving across the region today will bring thunderstorms with a slight risk of severe storms.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas, the storms will develop along the cold front as it enters the region from the northwest moving southeast this afternoon and evening. The storms will carrying a slight risk for a severe weather threat of large hail and damaging winds.
The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Kaufman County at 1:55 p.m. which will remain in effect until 9 p.m. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Kaufman, Rockwall, Ellis, and Dallas Counties just before 4:30 p.m. and will last until 5:15 p.m.
The best chances for thunderstorms in north Texas will be along and east of I-35 and I-35W late this afternoon and evening.
The greatest chances for severe weather is anticipated in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and in the Kaufman County area between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
