ABLES SPRINGS, Texas — A Go Fund Me account has been established for an Ables Springs volunteer firefighter and his family after their home was destroyed in a fire on Sunday while they were out of town.
Early Sunday morning, August 9, 2015, Ables Springs Volunteer Fire Department Captain Vance Hedge’s home on Farm-to-Market (FM) 429 in northern Kaufman County was destroyed in a fire while the family was out of town on vacation.
Firefighters from the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, Elmo Volunteer Fire Department, and the Tawakoni South Volunteer Fire Department assisted the Ables Springs Volunteer Fire Department in extinguishing the fire.
Firefighters were able to save the family’s vehicle by dragging it out of the garage as the fire quickly approached.
The Go Fund Me account aims to raise $5,000 for the family which lost everything in the fire. $2,633 had already been raised for the family as of Thursday night.
