KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – A black cow was struck by a vehicle on a dark farm-to-market road in Kaufman County on Tuesday night, causing serious damage to the vehicle and will likely cost the cow its life.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – A black cow was struck by a vehicle on a dark farm-to-market road in Kaufman County on Tuesday night, causing serious damage to the vehicle and will likely cost the cow its life.
Just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday night, September 9, 2014, the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 just north of FM 987. The 911 caller stated a vehicle had struck a cow in the roadway.
When firefighters arrived on scene, the cow was alive and attempting to re-enter the fenced pasture it escaped from. The cow had sustained a possible broken leg, other wounds, and would likely be euthanized due to its injuries.
The vehicle, which was traveling south on FM 148, sustained front-end damage. The occupants of the vehicle were unharmed.
