CRANDALL, Texas β€” Crandall Police Department Chief Dean Winters resigned earlier this morning, city officials confirmed.

In his wake, Lieutenant Billy Kilgore will serve as the interim chief, City Manager Scott Wall told inForney.com.

Although a reason for the resignation has not been disclosed, Wall said β€œhis exit was a favorable exit with us. We wish him well in the future.”

Wall says the city will begin going through the process of putting together a profile to advertise the position, possibly through a recruiting process. Ultimately, the candidate for chief would go before the city council.

Winters had been with the department for eight years.

inForney.com has reached out to Winters for comment.

This is a developing story.
