Crews installing new traffic signal near Forney High School

FORNEY, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation warranted a new traffic signal on Farm-to-Market (FM) 741 in front of Forney High School.

FORNEY, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation warranted a new traffic signal on Farm-to-Market (FM) 741 in front of Forney High School.

The signal, which is already under construction, is expected to be installed and functional before the start of school, according to city officials. The signal will allow for a controlled entry and exit point into the school’s main entrance.

In April, TxDOT announced a new traffic signal at the intersection of Ridgecrest Road and FM 741 and gave an eight month time frame for its completion. At the same time, TxDOT denied a signal on FM 548 at Falcon Way/Mason Boulevard.

The City of Forney has requested a new traffic study at FM 548 and Falcon Way/Mason Boulevard to be conducted at a time which would take into consideration school traffic, according to Public Works Director Chris Metz.
