TERRELL, Texas — A detached garage was destroyed Tuesday morning in Terrell’s historic home district.
Just before 10:45 a.m., the Terrell Fire Department responded to a home in the 700 block of Griffith Avenue for a fire in a detached garage. The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department and the Forney Fire Department were immediately dispatched for mutual aid.
A vehicle parked in the garage initially caught on fire after an individual attempted to start the car which had been parked for some time, according to Terrell Fire Marshal Tom Cooper. The fire quickly spread to the garage and eventually destroyed the entire garage and its contents.
The fire was under control before 11 a.m. and the Forney Fire Department was disregarded.
No injuries were reported in the fire. A CareFlite ambulance was on standby at the home.
