FORNEY, Texas — The driver of an SUV was arrested early Sunday morning after crashing into a fire hydrant on Aspenwood Trail in Forney.

The crash was reported at 3:31 a.m. on Aspenwood Trail in the Trails of Chestnut Meadows neighborhood. The SUV struck the fire hydrant and became disabled in a nearby front yard. The impact caused the fire hydrant to be removed from its base — flooding the street.

No injuries were reported, however, the driver was arrested.

The City of Forney Public Works and Utilities Department was dispatched to the scene to repair the damage.

At the time of the crash, it was too early for crews to determine if nearby residents’ water service would be affected.

AT&T was also requested to respond to the scene as it was believed an above-ground utility box may have also sustained damage.
